Tom Kelso, Managing Director
Mr. Kelso is a Managing Director and Head of the Energy & Multi-Site Retail Team and is responsible for managing the Firm's Baltimore office. He has provided merger and acquisition advisory, private placement of debt and equity, debt restructuring, and corporate reorganization services to a wide range of clients in a variety of industries. Mr. Kelso has over twenty-five years of experience in the petroleum distribution and convenience store industries first as the co-founder and 50% owner of Ocean Petroleum Co., Inc., then as a Principal at Kennilworth Holdings, Inc. and, since 1997, as a Managing Director with Matrix. He is a frequent guest speaker and author of various articles on a wide range of investment banking issues including the creation and realization of equity value in privately held middle market businesses. Mr. Kelso is a member of the Society of Independent Gasoline Marketers of America, National Association of Convenience Stores, American Bankruptcy Institute, and the Turnaround Management Association. Prior to founding Ocean Petroleum, Mr. Kelso was employed by Johns Hopkins University and the Johns Hopkins Federal Credit Union. He was educated at the University of Baltimore and Johns Hopkins University.

Tod Butler, Vice President
Mr. Butler is a member of the Energy & Multi-Site Retail Team and
is responsible for assisting the managing director in all aspects of transaction
management. Mr. Butler brings 43 years of petroleum marketing experience
to Matrix, having served as an acquisition advisor with Petroleum Realty
Investment Partners, L.P. and as the Mid-Continent Regional Director of
Real Estate for Getty Realty Corporation. Prior to joining Matrix, Mr.
Butler served as President and CEO of Mid-States Petroleum, Inc., a large
Midwest Convenience Store Marketer and distributor of wholesale petroleum
products. He is a former President and Chairman of the executive committee
for the Society of Independent Gasoline Marketers of America and a member
of the prestigious 25 Year Club of The Petroleum Industry. Mr. Butler
has a Bachelors of Science in Accounting from Ferris State University
in Big Rapids, Michigan and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Spencer Cavalier, Vice President, CFA, ASA
Mr. Cavalier is a member of the Energy & Multi-Site Retail Team. He is responsible for assisting and co-managing all aspects of transactions including preparing selling memoranda and providing valuation and corporate finance expertise. Prior to joining Matrix, he was a senior valuation consultant with Ellin & Tucker, Chartered, a nationally recognized business valuation, consulting, and accounting firm. Mr. Cavalier has valued companies operating in many industries, including technology, manufacturing, retail, petroleum, distribution and health care. Previously, he was a commercial banking officer with NationsBank (now Bank of America), where he gained senior lending experience. Mr. Cavalier's consulting and banking background provides significant experience for working with middle market companies at all stages of maturity. As a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, he is a member of the CFA Institute. He is also recognized as an Accredited Senior Appraiser by the American Society of Appraisers.
Mr. Cavalier holds a B.S. degree from West Virginia University and an M.B.A. from Baylor University and is qualified as a Series 7 FINRA General Securities Representative. Mr. Cavalier is a Member of the Board of Visitors for University of Maryland's Hospital for Children.

Cedric C. Fortemps, Vice President, CFA
Mr. Fortemps is a member of the Energy & Multi-Site Retail Team and is responsible for overseeing and performing financial analysis, financial modeling, industry research, buyer research, preparation of the offering memorandum for sell-side engagements and financing engagements, company analysis and preparation of valuations. Mr. Fortemps has helped advise companies in many industries, including manufacturing, distribution, technology, consumer services, business services and has specific expertise in multi-site retail advisory and valuation work.
He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute, and is qualified as a Series 7 and Series 63 FINRA General Securities Representative. Mr. Fortemps graduated cum laude with a B.S.B.A. with a concentration in Finance from the University of Richmond and serves on the Advisory Board for University's Student Managed Investment Fund.

Matt Murphy, Associate
Mr. Murphy is responsible for conducting financial, industry, and buyer research, creating valuation and financing models, and preparing selling and private placement memoranda. Prior to joining Matrix in 2004, Mr. Murphy worked as a consulting associate for Cambridge Associates LLC in Arlington, Virginia, where he aided multi-million dollar endowed institutions make investment portfolio asset allocation and investment manager decisions. Mr. Murphy graduated from the University of Richmond where he received a B.S.B.A. with a concentration in Finance. Mr. Murphy is a Level II candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program.

M. Vance Saunders, Senior Analyst, CPA
Mr. Saunders is a member of the Energy & Multi-Site Retail Team and is responsible for conducting financial, industry, and buyer research, creating valuation and financing models, and preparing selling and private placement memoranda. Prior to joining Matrix in 2006, Mr. Saunders worked in the Business Assurance and Advisory Services Group for the public accounting firm of Keiter, Stephens, Hurst, Gary & Shreaves in Glen Allen, Virginia, where his experience included a variety of assurance engagements. Mr. Saunders also held a senior associate position in the Treasury group of Capital One Financial Corporation. Mr. Saunders graduated Magna Cum Laude from Longwood University where he received a B.S.B.A. with concentrations in Finance and Accounting. Mr. Saunders holds the Certified Public Accountant designation, and he is currently pursuing his M.B.A. at Virginia Commonwealth University.
